What are concrete slabs?

A concrete slab is a popular structural element of construction. It is a thick and flat horizontal concrete surface typically used for the floor or roof. Concrete slabs are employed to build the ground floor of some residential structures. Concrete slabs can be positioned directly on the soil or used as a support for the foundation.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete installation isn't for those who aren't confident. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors adhere to strict concrete slab installation procedures which are compliant with industry standards and local codes.

In all our concrete projects, safety is a paramount concern. Before we begin any project, we make sure to be equipped with the proper safety equipment. Eye protection, long sleeves, long pants, rubber boots gloves and gloves form parts of our safety gear. All of these keep us safe from concrete splashes which can cause harm to our overall health and overall well-being.

We strictly follow the steps listed below as an integral part of our process:

Step 1: Preparation on-site

We use the same procedure regardless of whether it's a smaller concrete slab or a larger one. For all projects, we clean up the area. We clear away all traces of contamination to allow us to start fresh. We ensure that all materials are prepared for use during the preparation phase. We arrange the transportation of materials prior to actual project. This enables us to start and finish the project in time.

Step 2 Step 2: Reinforce concrete slabs with steel and construct concrete forms

After the site is cleaned and ready, we proceed by putting in concrete forms by using wire mesh. Concrete forms work as a solid wall to keep the concrete mix in place. Concrete forms force concrete to take on a particular shape or design. For concrete reinforcement, we use reinforced concrete using the help of rebar. This will ensure that concrete surfaces are stronger.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

Concrete trucks are used to make the process easier. Concrete materials can be mixed more efficiently using the help of a concrete truck. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. However, in the majority of our projects, a concrete mixer is required.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

After mixing the concrete, we pour the concrete into the molds. We pour the concrete mixture carefully to avoid creating air pockets. Air pockets can form because there isn't enough mortar to fill the gaps around the aggregate. Concrete is produced by spreading the mix evenly over the shape.
